Born and raised in Rome, where she has been performing with several projects includingThe Boop Sisters , Alessia came out with her first solo album in 2008 “PG Major 7″, receving positive reviews in the UK scene.
Currently based in London, Alessia’s new album “Synth o Matic” was recently released. The first single of the album is “Back Home”: a jazzy & groovy tune with a relaxed vibe, an acoustic sound and a catchy chorus. The song features one of the rising artists of the Philly Nu Soul scene, the amazing Jaguar Wright, already well known for her collaborations with The Roots and Jay-Z. The album track list includes songs, spoken word poems and features a couple of hit cover songs from the 80’s: she arranged the giant “Beat it” (M. Jackson) and “Into the groove” (Madonna) in a nu-soul style. Some of the tunes are vocal experiments, created with the help of her loop station, vocal harmonization and beat box built and used as a base to perform her spokens, taken from her popular blog.
She recently opened for “Poet of Nu Soul” Ursula Rucker, and shared the stage with the singer-pianist Frank McComb at Jazz Cafè for his Solo Living Room Concert. Her album has had airplay across popular radios such as Solar Radio, Jazz FM, and SoulandJazz.
