Notting Hill Unplugged: Zeeteah

Zeeteah Massiah returns to the Book and Kitchen – Notting Hill Unplugged for another intimate night of sweet jazz, cool blues and more. Having worked with artists such as with Tom Jones, Michael Jackson, Sting and Robbie Williams, Zeeteah is making her own mark on the London music scene. She will be singing songs from her forthcoming album JUICE, as well as singing some of her favourite standards. Zeeteah will be joined by Rick Laughlin and Sophie Alloway. Come and experience the magic of this trio, up close and personal.

Rick has been around the London jazz scene for some time, achieving widespread recognition as a pianist, musical director and composer. He has led his own music projects since ’97 having travelled the world several times over, and is a busy freelance keyboard player and arranger. Rick has been a featured soloist at the Albert Hall, the Festival Hall and the Barbican as well as many major jazz venues around the world, and has shared the stage with artists from Bette Midler to Ronnie Scott. Rick has been Zeeteah’s pianist and musical director since she formed her new band in May 2012.

Sophie is a busy freelance drummer working in a variety of musical settings for lots of different artists. She has toured the UK, Australia and New Zealand with rapper Roots Manuva. As well as performing on Later With Jools Holland, Mercury Music Prize, BBC Introducing, and numerous festivals such as Glastonbury, Hop Farm and Bestival, she has toured with the Michael Jackson musical ‘Thriller’. Sophie has recorded and performed with many greats including Kenny Thomas, Hazel O’Connor, Afrobeat legend Tony Allen, as well as Jazz/Fusion musicians such as Dill Katz, Michael Mondesir and George Melly. Sophie also joined Zeeteah’s band in May 2012.
