Come and join our small but exciting team at Book and Kitchen!

We are a new bookshop with a difference located in the heart of Notting Hill – the difference is we have a big outlook and lots of energy.

As an intern at Book and Kitchen, you will play a role in the day to day running of our shop and get involved with a host of exciting activities we have planned for the year including book, music and children events as well as helping set up some innovative programmes, workshops and series we are planning for the year.

If you are also interested in food, we have a small cafe in the shop that we are looking to expand with new products and ranges.

This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in getting some bookshop experience, developing retail and business skills, getting involved with a new publishing imprint and/or expanding their event management skills.

All interns will train and operate to the level of Assistant Manager.

We are looking for a number of interns to develop skills across the following areas:

  • Stock Control and Ordering
  • Merchandising
  • Retail Analysis
  • Book Category Management
  • Event Management
  • Publishing

As an intern you will receive a daily stipend of £10 to cover travel expenses. You will also enjoy all the benefits of working at the Book and Kitchen including free entry to events, a freshly prepared meal from the cafe, a weekly stipend to choose books from our second hand section, as well as being part of a welcoming and warm team.

Our Internships run for a minimum of 3 months for at least 3 days a week, one being a Saturday or Sunday. If you wish to stay longer up to 6 months we will look at offering a project based plan in order for you to gain much wider knowledge including covering expenses for external training. We operate a very flexible approach and will put together a development plan with you tailored to your interests and to the skills you wish to develop.
